Wooden hat with turned form and hand-carved details on workshop table
Modled after a 1920’s Fedora , turned then hand carved. The tree came from a Western Cedar that grew a few feet from the shop.

It is not for sale — A member of my personal collection.

Gallery, The slide show is a few of my favorite my favorite things.

A variation on a segmented turning. Featuring a number of woods, Cherry, Rosewood, Walnut, Maple, and Holly.

It is 9-1/2 inches in diameter, 9 inches tall.

When I was in high school this Douglas Fir root burl was on the trail along Cain Lake (near Alger WA) Each time we road our bicycles to the store , it was in our way. After a little digging and some work with an ax I had a souvenir.  It followed me for years – until I figured out how to mount it on the lathe. At 11 inches long, 9 inches long, and 10 inches deap it has a very unique shape. As a piece of my collection i remeber the reaction my parents had when i brought it back to the cabin.
